Depending on your billing tool and internal organization, you might have a customer hierarchy such as parent/children or group/entities. And depending on your processes or specific use cases, you might need to chase only the parent, only the children, or both.
Before digging into the different solutions, you must know that the children/entities data is by default available at the parent's level: parent customer page, parent portal, included in the parent's collection tags (invoice references, amounts).
1 - Send reminders at the parent level only
Here, you will want to ensure the "children" are assigned to "No workflow". You can identify them from the Customers list view, by searching the parent name and add the filter "Type = Standard". Then select them all, click Actions > Assign a workflow > No workflow.
And then, ensure the parent is assigned to an active workflow, based on your needs and process.
→ You can keep the reminders at the parent level manual (no automation) to update the data before sending the emails if need be (to ensure it only highlights the parent's invoices references, or amounts).
2 - Send reminders at the children level only
Same idea as above, but reversed. Ensure the parent is assigned to "No workflow", and assign an active workflow to the children. They can be assigned to the same workflow or different ones.
→ The reminders at the children level will only mention and display the child's data. It won't show the parent's or the other children's.
3 - Send reminders at both levels
With this option, we highly recommend to assign a different workflow to the parent and children, to avoid duplicate reminders, especially if the contacts are shared.
As mentioned in the first point, don't forget the parent will also show by default the children's invoices and amounts.
